Our Favorite Curl Styles Step by Step to Recreate

Anna, Nadine and Nana from the Afrolocke team show you their favorite curl styling looks and how they did them in just a few steps.
The best thing about curls is clearly how many different ways you can wear them. And all without damaging heat styling or flat irons. First, a few tips on what to keep in mind when styling your curls.
What you need for curl styling
Depending on the style, the key items are a spray bottle with water, hair clips, Afrolocke's Leave-In, the Curl Styling Gel and the Hair Oil. Soft brushes (like a shine brush), afro combs, headwraps or microfiber towels can also help. You can also use tools you have at home (toothbrush, skewer, old T-shirt).
Order of products
The order matters: first the Afrolocke Leave-In for moisture, then the Afrolocke Styling Gel for extra hold, finally the Afrolocke Hair Oil to seal.
Curly Sleek Look - NADINE
"I like that this sleek look is glamorous but still lets my natural curl pattern shine through."

Step 1: Dampen hair to wet (my curls are very voluminous, so I almost soak them).
Step 2: Work in some Leave-In, smoothing hair flat back along the head with your hands.
Step 3: Work in plenty of Curl Styling Gel, gently brush back with a brush or old toothbrush, without combing out the curl pattern too much.
Step 4: Finish by sealing with oil and secure stray strands with invisible hair clips.
Bouncy Curls - ANNA
"I'm a fan of our new Curl Styling Gel because I also love wearing my curls defined and loose. It gives me beautiful bouncy curls."

Step 1: On wash day I use Afrolocke Shampoo and Conditioner, then work the Leave-In into very damp hair, strand by strand with my hands.
Step 2: Right after, I work the Curl Styling Gel into the same strand.
Step 3: Then I wrap the strand once around my finger.
Step 4: And immediately seal the same strand with oil. Then I continue with step 1 on the next strand.
Baby Hairs Styling - NANA
Step 1: First I dampen my hair with warm water to make it more receptive to the next product, since I have low porosity hair. I massage the water in so my hair isn't soaking but well-moistened.
Step 2: I part my hair into two equal sections with a rat-tail comb.
Step 3: I apply the hair gel with flat palms in a downward motion on my damp hair.
Step 4: I use a soft bristle brush to brush my hair down from the middle part and tie it back with a metal-free hair tie. Then I shape my baby hairs (edges) into a wavy look with a toothbrush.
Step 5: I wrap a silk scarf around my hair for a smoother and shinier look for about 5-10 minutes.

As you can see, despite many cliches, there really are countless hairstyles for curls, from twist-outs to bantu knots to sleek looks.
Of course, just wearing your curls down "as they are" is already a look. But if you want variety or to get creative, there are many options.
And don't forget: curls are magical and you can create new styles without any heat. Just use the advantages of your natural curl structure and avoid trying to force it into a completely different shape.
