Your hair structure is not everything
How much care your curls need depends on several factors.
Hair strength. Fine curls can need different amounts of product than stronger hair fibres.
Hair density. With denser or longer hair it helps to apply products section by section.
Porosity. It gives you an orientation for how your hair fibre deals with water and care.
Hair condition. Dryness, colouring, heat or other stress can change what your hair needs.
Watch your hair and adapt your routine accordingly.

How to use Afrolocke on curly hair
- Schritt 01
Cleanse
Apply shampoo to hair and scalp, massage in gently and rinse thoroughly.

Condition and detangle

- Schritt 03
Add moisture
Work the leave-in into damp hair, spread it evenly through lengths and ends and adapt the amount to your hair.
- Schritt 04
Define
Work the styling gel into damp hair strand by strand. Then scrunch or define single curls with your fingers.
- Schritt 05
Finish
If needed, apply hair oil to the damp lengths and ends. A few drops also work as a finish.

Moisture is absorbed and held well.
Unsere EmpfehlungWork the leave-in and gel evenly into damp hair.
High porosity
Your hair takes in moisture quickly but also loses it faster.
Unsere EmpfehlungUse the leave-in more generously and add hair oil to lengths and ends.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How much product do my curls need?
There is no amount that works for all curls. If your hair is weighed down quickly, start with less. If the lengths feel dry, use the leave-in more generously.
I am missing definition, what helps?
Spread the styling gel evenly and then shape your curls deliberately, for example by scrunching or finger coiling.
My ends need more care.
Use hair oil specifically on lengths and ends, either on damp hair or as a finish.

Do you know your porosity?
Your curl pattern is not the only thing that decides your care. Just as important is how your hair absorbs and holds products and moisture.
Low porosity
Water takes longer to get into the hair. Products can build up on the surface more quickly.
Deine StrategieMore water. Less product. Layer lightly.
Medium porosity
Your hair takes in water and care in a fairly balanced way.
Deine StrategieCare in balance and dose by how your hair feels.
High porosity
Water is absorbed quickly but often lost more quickly too.
Deine StrategieLayer moisture. Care for the lengths. Add hair oil if needed.
Still unsure?
Watch your hair after washing:
- How quickly does it get wet?
- How quickly does it dry?
- Do products sit on the hair or are they absorbed quickly?
How your hair feels and how it reacts to products helps you adapt your routine individually.

What does your hair need?
Your curls are individual. So it is worth looking not only at your hair structure but above all at what your hair needs right now.
