Hair structure

Care for your waves.

Wavy hair can be fine or strong, dense or less dense, dry or easily weighed down. That is why your hair structure alone does not tell you how much care your hair needs.

Your hair structure is not everything

Even two people with wavy hair can need completely different routines.

Hair strength. Fine hair can feel weighed down more quickly than stronger hair.

Hair density. Depending on how dense your hair is, the amount of product you need changes.

Porosity. It describes how your hair fibre deals with water and care.

Hair condition. Colouring, heat, mechanical stress or dry lengths can change what your hair needs.

Do not work with a fixed amount. Start with a little product and watch how your hair reacts.

How to use Afrolocke on wavy hair

  1. Schritt 01

    Cleanse

Apply shampoo to hair and scalp, massage in gently and rinse thoroughly.

  2. Schritt 02

    Condition

Apply conditioner to the lengths. If needed, detangle carefully with your fingers or a wide tooth comb while it works, then rinse thoroughly.

  3. Schritt 03

    Dose the leave-in

Work the leave-in into damp hair. If your hair is weighed down easily, start with a small amount and add more only if needed.

  4. Schritt 04

    Define your waves

Work the styling gel into damp hair. Then scrunch the waves from the bottom up and let them dry in the air or with a diffuser.

  5. Schritt 05

    Finish if needed

Use a few drops of hair oil on the ends or as a finish. Use it sparingly on fine hair or hair that is weighed down easily.

Will my wavy hair be weighed down by the products?

Do I really need all five products?

No. You do not have to use every product at every wash. Your hair decides which combination fits right now.

Porosity

Do you know your porosity?

Your hair structure is not the only thing that decides your care. Just as important is how your hair absorbs and holds products and moisture.

Low porosity

Water takes longer to get into the hair. Products can build up on the surface more quickly.

Deine StrategieMore water. Less product. Layer lightly.

Medium porosity

Your hair takes in water and care in a fairly balanced way.

Deine StrategieCare in balance and dose by how your hair feels.

High porosity

Water is absorbed quickly but often lost more quickly too.

Deine StrategieLayer moisture. Care for the lengths. Add hair oil if needed.

Still unsure?

Watch your hair after washing:

  • How quickly does it get wet?
  • How quickly does it dry?
  • Do products sit on the hair or are they absorbed quickly?

How your hair feels and how it reacts to products helps you adapt your routine individually.
