Care for your afro hair.

Afro hair is diverse. That is why your hair structure alone does not decide which care works for you. What matters is what your hair needs.

Care for your afro hair.

Your afro hair is individual

Two people with afro hair can need completely different care routines.

Hair thickness. Fine and strong hair fibres react differently to product amounts and styling.

Hair density. With very dense hair, working in sections helps to spread products more evenly.

Porosity. It gives you an idea of how your hair fibre deals with water and care.

Hair condition. Natural, coloured, chemically treated or frequently heat styled hair can have different care needs.

Every Afrolocke product can be part of your routine. What matters is how you use it for your hair.

How to use Afrolocke on afro hair

  1. Schritt 01

    Cleanse

Apply shampoo to hair and scalp, massage in gently and rinse thoroughly. With dense hair it helps to work in sections.

  2. Schritt 02

    Condition and detangle

Apply conditioner to the wet lengths and let it work for a few minutes. Then detangle carefully with your fingers or a wide tooth comb.

  3. Schritt 03

    Apply leave-in

Work the leave-in into damp hair and make sure to spread it evenly through the lengths and ends.

  4. Schritt 04

    Style towards your goal

Work styling gel into damp hair if you want more definition and hold. How you shape your curls depends on your styling.

  5. Schritt 05

    Care for lengths and ends

Use hair oil specifically on lengths and ends. The amount depends on hair thickness, density, length and care needs.

Porosity

Do you know your porosity?

Your hair structure is not the only thing that decides your care. Just as important is how your hair absorbs and holds products and moisture.

Low porosity

Water takes longer to get into the hair. Products can build up on the surface more quickly.

Deine StrategieMore water. Less product. Light layering.

Medium porosity

Your hair takes up water and care in a fairly balanced way.

Deine StrategieBalanced care, dosed by how your hair feels.

High porosity

Water is absorbed quickly, but often lost again just as quickly.

Deine StrategieLayer moisture. Take good care of the lengths. Add hair oil when needed.

Still unsure?

Watch your hair after washing:

  • How quickly does it get wet?
  • How quickly does it dry?
  • Do products tend to sit on the hair or are they absorbed quickly?

How your hair feels and how it reacts to products helps you adjust your routine individually.
